Dwelling Fire in Iraq Leaves Four Dead
The blaze ignited in the al-Amin neighborhood after an electrical transformer overheated due to intense heat and excessive load, triggering a fire that rapidly spread to the adjacent house, the source, who requested anonymity, explained.
Civil defense teams quickly responded to extinguish the flames, the source added.
This tragedy follows closely on the heels of a catastrophic fire at a hypermarket in Kut, the capital of Iraq’s eastern Wasit province, which claimed at least 61 lives.
Iraq has seen a surge in fire-related incidents recently amid a scorching summer heatwave, with temperatures soaring as high as 50 degrees Celsius across many regions.
